WINCHENDON / BALDWINVILLE - Joan G. (Bergevin) Powers, 71, of 50A Pearl St., Winchendon, and formerly of Baldwinville, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gardner on March 5, 1937, the daughter of the late William and Jean (Dumas) Bergevin. Mrs. Powers lived most of her life in Baldwinville, attending local schools. She sold many products for various companies, including Avon, Blair, and Mary Kay, several years ago. She worked in food service for the Heywood Hospital for 19 years, retiring in 2007. Mrs. Powers was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Gardner and the Templeton Golden Agers. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her family. She was very well liked and touched the lives of those around her. She leaves three sons, Michael J. Powers of Gardner, Steven M. Powers of Baldwinville, Dale M. Powers of Templeton; two daughters, Brenda J. Johnson of Ashby, Victoria I. Powers Drury of Templeton; three sisters, Janet Lawrence of Templeton, Lorraine Brackett of Templeton, Lucille Bergevin of Westminster; one brother, Roger Bergevin of East Templeton; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, James H. Powers, who died on July 1, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster. Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner.
