ATHOL - Joan N. Theroux, 70, of 504 Crescent St., died Friday, November 3, 2006 in the Athol Memorial Hospital. She was born in Athol on September 27, 1936, the daughter of the late Wilfred J. and the late Alice E. (Gravelin) Theroux. Joan graduated from Athol High School in 1955. For a short time she worked at the L.S. Starrett Company and for W.T. Grant and worked for many years at the Erving Paper Mill. Later in life, she worked at Rule Tool and Yankee Candle. Joan was a member of Our Lady Immaculate and the Athol Golden Agers. She enjoyed lighthouses and loved the ocean and being around her family. Everywhere she went she knew someone, or, if not, she made a new friend. She leaves one sister, Lorraine E. Wasileski of Millers Falls; one brother, Edward R. Theroux and his wife, Beverly, of Athol, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Carey and Dorothy Lanier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1Main Street, Athol, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Joan's memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
