GARDNER- Joann (Budzinski) Gemborys, 77, of Gardner, died Monday, January 2, peacefully in her sleep in her husband’s arms from complications of heart disease.
She was born September 20, 1939 in Gardner, daughter of the late Theodore and Winifred (Dabkowski) Budzinski. She grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School, Class of 1957. Mrs. Gemborys was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Joseph and Holy Cross. She sang in the choir at St. Joseph and Holy Cross for many years. Her interests included motorcycle rides with her husband, crossword puzzles, “Wheel of Fortune” and enjoying a full house packed with her family.
Joann was the beloved bride of retired Police Chief Richard L. Gemborys for 57 years. She leaves behind her five children, Kyle Norbutus of Gardner, Linda Doll and her husband, Donald of PA, Judy Cummings and her husband, Mark of Spencer, Helen Poremba and her husband, John of Brookline, NH, and Kenneth Gemborys and his wife, Tina of Phillipston. Her daughter, Jeanne, died April 3, 1965.
She was a proud Babci to Cory, Amanda, and Britny Norbutus; Benjamin Gemborys; Kelsey, Matthew, Lindsey, and Megan Poremba; Logan and Cole Gemborys; Mackenzie, Douglas, and Jennifer Doll; one great grandchild Amara Norbutus. She is survived by her three siblings Phyllis Asselin of Gardner, Theodore Budzinski of Gardner, and Annette Ducharme of Hubbardston, her brothers-in-law Joseph and Gene Gemborys, and her sisters-in-law Honey Stacey and Eva Gemborys, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Thursday, January 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
The funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 6, at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., E. Templeton. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
