Joanne C. (Allen) Gordon

Joanne C. Gordon Athol – Joanne C. (Allen) Gordon, 78, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Keystone Center in Leominster.      Joanne was born November 17, 1936 in Athol, MA, the daughter of David and Lillian (Barrows) Allen.  She lived in Athol for many years graduating, from Athol High School in 1954.  She later moved to Pilot Mountain, NC for ten years, returning to Athol in 2014.      She worked at the L.S. Starrett Company, the N.D. Cass Company and for several other companies as a secretary until her retirement.   Joanne’s faith was a big part of her life as she was a born again Christian, also serving as a pastor for many years.  She enjoyed reading and spending time at the ocean.      She leaves her children, Mary Lou Courtney of Athol, James M. Gordon, Jr. and his wife Diamond of Moshiem, TN and Pamela Richardson and her husband Jack of Athol; six grandchildren, Christen, Ashley, Winthrop, Jr., Cory, Jonathon and Megan; three great-grandsons, Evan, Leighton and Skylar; four brothers, David Allen, Jr. and his wife Ruthie, Craig Allen and his wife Brenda, and Alan Allen all of Athol and Anthony Allen and his wife Sylvia of Pilot Mountain, NC and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Steven Allen.      A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00 A.M.  at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol with the Rev. Mark D. Bariloni, pastor of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be in the family lot at Chestnut Hill Cemetery and in lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Joanne’s name be made to: Charity of one’s choice.
