JoAnne M. Cucchi

ATHOL - JoAnne M. (Henry) Cucchi, 77 of 404 Fredette St., Athol, died Friday, January 12, 2007, in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. She was born in Athol, on April 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Evelyn (James) (Henry) Dugan. She grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1947. JoAnne survived from being stricken with polio in 1955. JoAnne was well known along with her husband Ed as owners of the Royale Cafe in Athol for many years. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo, reading, painting, puzzels and watching the Red Sox. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Athol-Orange Emblem Club. She leaves two daughters, Jo-Ellen Cucchi of Athol, Leslie Duffy and her husband Ken of Athol; one son, Edmund Cucchi of Grainville, NY; eight grandchildren, Kara Parker of Orange; Kate Strunjo of Nantucket; Kyle Strunjo of Clinton, CT; Ed Cucchi, Jr. of Grainville, NY; Ryan Cucchi of Manchester, CT; Tim Cucchi of Athol; Mark Mosley of Athol and Tyra Gates of Orange; eight great grandchildren; two nephews, Mark Litchfield of Athol and Jim Litchfield of Snellville, GA; and several relatives in England. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund J. Cucchi, by her son, Stephen Cucchi, and by her sister in-law, Flora Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 15, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church - Building Fund, 192 School St., or to the Chuck Stone Little League, PO Box 625, both of Athol, MA 01331.
