GARDNER - John T. Aher, 92 of Gardner, widower of Edith (Campbell) Aher, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014.            He was born in Gardner, on June 22, 1921, the son of the late Patrick F. and the late Mary A. (Columbus) Aher.            John graduated from Gardner High School with honors and was a veteran of World War II. He served in the US Navy from 1939-1945 in the South Pacific. He was an assistant coach of the Gardner High Men’s Hockey team for several years.  He was a passionate golfer and skier up through this winter and will be greatly missed by his family that he loved so much.            He is survived by his two daughters, Susan (Aher) Walliser and her husband Roy, of Blossom, TX, and Marilyn Sadowski, of Gardner, MA; a sister, Barbara (Aher) Manninen, of Westminster, MA; a brother, Patrick Aher of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was known as “Papa” by his two granddaughters, Amanda Sadowski of Chicago, IL, and Kimberley Sadowski of Manchester, CT.             Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner.  Burial will in St. John's Cemetery will be at a later date.              Calling hours will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, MA.               For more information or to sign our online guest book please visit www.mackfuneralhome.com.               Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St., Gardner is directing arrangements $(document).ready(function(){ });
