John E. Anastos

John E. Anastos Athol – John E. “Charlie” Anastos, 72, formerly of Chelmsford, died Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.      John was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, June 8, 1940, the son of the late Ernest Dimitrios and Clara (Paris) Anastos.  He was a graduate of Suffolk University with a B.A. and Fitchburg State College with a M.S.  He lived in Chelmsford for many years and having a love for nature he chose to settle in the western part of Massachusetts where he has resided for the past 12 years.        John was a former educator in the Lowell public schools and a counselor in western Massachusetts.  He was very active in theater while at Suffolk University and in community theater in later years.  He was an avid swimmer and reader and had encyclopedic knowledge about world and U.S. history and a variety of subjects.        He leaves two brothers, a sister, a nephew, great niece, great nephew, several cousins and friends.        A graveside service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, 275 Boston Road, Lowell, MA.   Donations may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215, in memory of John E.
