John B. Czajkowski, Sr., 90 of 2 Cherry St., Baldwinville died Thursday, September 14, 2006 in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
He was born in Gardner on January 12, 1916, the son of the late John A. and the late Valiera (Iwasezski) Czajkowski.
John graduated from Gardner High School in 1936 and received a diploma from the Worcester Boys Trade School in 1940. He was formerly employed by Florence Stove, GEM Industries, was a foreman at Thayer Industries in Gardner, worked at the former A.C.F.I. in Gardner, who manufactured dormitory furniture and for whom he traveled all over New England setting up furniture for dormitories, and retired from General Electric in Fitchburg after ten years of employment. He was a skilled wood worker and enjoyed making furniture for his children and grandchildren.
John was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church, Gardner A.A.R.P., Templeton Golden Agers and was a member of the Pulaski Memorial Guard.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Helen T. (Coobic) Czajkowski; two sons, John B. Czajkowski, Jr. of Ashburnham and Douglas G. Czajkowski and his wife Nancy of Rockville, CT; two sisters, Anna Hill and Carol Jeleniewski, both of Templeton; two grandchildren, Lori Conant of Ashford, CT and Douglas J. Czajkowski of Tolland, CT; and three great grandchildren, Julia Czajkowski; Mikayla Conant and Grace Conant.
He was predeceased by his sister, Stella Berkiel of Providence, RI and two brothers, Alphonse Czajkowski of Worcester and Edward Czajkowski of Gardner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 18, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Church, 1 Forest St., Baldwinville. Burial will follow in St. John´s Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 18, 2006 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in John's name to the Gardner Visiting Nurses Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
