John H. Guyer

ATHOL - John H. Guyer, III, 61 of 68 Leonard St., Athol, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at home. He was born in Montague on January 25, 1946, the son of the late John H. and Shirley (Whittmore) Guyer Jr. He grew up in Phillipston and has lived in Athol for the past 20 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. During his tour of duty he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Good conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the M-14 Rifle Marksman Badge. Mr. Guyer worked as a repair technician for Ramco Industries based out of Syracuse, N.Y. He was a member of the Athol American Legion. He enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles, and board games. He leaves his companion of twelve years Donna Campbell of Athol; five daughters: Lisa Guyer and Tammy Guyer both of Orange, Danielle Campbell, Brandee Campbell, and Marisa Campbell all of Athol; six sons: Keith Guyer, John Guyer and Thomas Guyer all of Athol; Timothy Guyer of Orange; Matthew McGivern and Kyle Campbell both of Athol; one sister: Patricia Forcier of Fitchburg, and fifteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Diane McGivern. Funeral services will be held at Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 5:00 pm in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. Following the service a reception will be held at the Athol American Legion. Burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
