John R. Harris, Jr.
Orange – John Rodman Harris, Jr., 69, of 200 East River Street, died March 28, 2013 at University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus in Worcester.
John was born in Vineland, New Jersey on August 6, 1943, the son of John R. and Beatrice F. (Borden) Harris, Sr. He grew up and attended schools in Leesburg, NJ and for the past 40 years has resided in Phillipston and the Athol-Orange area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War.
He worked for the former Digital Equipment in Westminster for many years and for the past 20 years has worked for K.W. Woodworking and Painting in Phillipston. John enjoyed listening to the Blues and going to many concerts. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, riding motorcycles and visiting with his many friends. John was also very appreciative from the wonderful care he received at Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
He leaves several nieces and nephews and a cousin and his long-time friends, Kris and Paula Wise of Phillipston.
A service with military honorswill be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery in Winchendon. Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is directing arrangements. For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:
