GARDNER- John E. Hulette, Jr., 74, of 109 Chapel St., Gardner, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in the Leominster Health Alliance Hospital. He was born in Gardner, on June 28, 1933, the son of the late John E. and Viola C. (Kaczenshy) Hulette, Sr. Mr. Hulette was a lifelong resident of Gardner and a graduate of Gardner High School Class of 1951. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #129, and the VFW Post #905 in Gardner. Mr. Hulette was Lieutenant for the Gardner Fire Department from 1957 until his retirement in 1976. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the Helicopter Squad HS3 Antisubmarine on the U.S.S. Coral Sea. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. His hobbies include building 15th and 16th Century replica ships, also hunting and fishing. Mr. Hulette was predeceased by his wife, Betty W. (Williamson) Hulette, who died on November 26, 1994. He is survived by two sons, Ronald and his wife Karen Hulette of Rindge, NH, and Eric D. and his wife Denise Hulette of Gardner; his long-time companion Priscilla J. Proulx of Gardner; two brothers, James E. and his wife Rachel of Hernando, FL, William F. Hulette of Gardner; one grandson, John Eric "Jack" Hulette of Gardner; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Gardner. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 23, 2008 from 5 - 8:00 p.m. at the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner.
