John H. Jurgielewicz

GARDNER - John H. Jurgielewicz, 91, of 44 Linwood St., Gardner, and formerly of Townsend, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gardner, on April 13, 1917, the son of the late John and the late Blanche (Gienczewski) Jurgielewicz. Mr. Jurgielewicz served in the Army during WWII from September 1946 to May 1947, receiving the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal - Japan. He attended Alliance College in Pennsylvania. He was the former owner of the Sweetheart Ice Cream Bar in Townsend. He also worked for Perini Construction for many years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Gardner. His hobbies were football, bodybuilding, the racetrack, fishing, gardening and working with farm animals. He leaves one daughter: Donna Duffy and husband Brian of Gardner, and one son: John Jurgelewicz and wife DeeDee of Danielson, CT; four grand children: Brianna and Jason Bisceglia of Gardner, and Eric and Heather Jurgelewicz of Danielson CT; several nieces and nephews; three sisters: Evelyn Jurgelewicz, Regina O'Connell, Josephine Mitchell and one brother: Felix Jurgelewicz and wife Theresa, all of Gardner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. in the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
