John C. Patterson,

John C. Patterson, Sr. Athol – John C. Patterson, Sr., 76, died Saturday July 9, 2011 at his home following a brief battle with cancer.      He was born in East Pepperell, Massachusetts, March 24, 1935, the son of the late George W. and Mary (Newmaire) Patterson.  He grew up in West Townsend and attended Fitchburg schools and for the past 52 years has resided in Athol.        John worked at the former Athol Table Shop for many years until his retirement.  He enjoyed fishing, mushrooming and can picking.        He leaves his wife of 52 years, Martha (Ware) Patterson; his children, John C. Patterson, Jr., and Nancy Ekberg and her husband Donald, all of the state of Washington, Jean Daniels and her husband Steve of Athol, and Lesly Patterson of Tennessee.  He also leaves several grandchildren; two brothers, George Patterson of Arizona and William Patterson of Washington; a sister, Priscilla Kerr of Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary and Patricia.      At John’s request no formal funeral services are planned.  Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is directing arrangements.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:  www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com. $(document).ready(function(){ });
