Orange – John H. Raulston, 57, of 199 East Main Street, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
John was born in Athol, Massachusetts, April 6, 1953, the son of Herbert and Jean (Lawrence) Raulston. He grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1971, living in Athol most of his life and for the past five years has resided in Orange.
John was a full time fireman for the town of Athol for 21 years serving as captain for several years. He also worked as a mental health counselor for Clinical and Support Options in Greenfield for several years. He was a federal gun dealer and gunsmith, loved hunting and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Katherine (O’Hara) Raulston; a son, Garrett Raulston and his companion Heidi of Orange; three grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas and Monique; a sister, Alice Elwell and her husband Andy of Mocksville, NC; an adopted daughter Melissa Graves of Athol; an adopted grandson Zack and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-9376.
