John W. Valliere, affectionately known as Pepe to his family, passed away peacefully at his home on January 17, 2025, just shy of his 84th birthday. He was a loving and devoted husband to Muriel (Fortin) Valliere for the past 64 years.
Born in Fitchburg, MA, on January 22, 1941 to George and Beradine (Gingrass) Valliere. John moved to Gardner, Massachusetts in 1976, where he lived a fulfilling and love-filled life. He was a funny, loving man, respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. John was known for his lighthearted humor and the love he had for his family, which was always at the heart of his life.
John worked for many years at Collier Keyworth Company and then H&R 1871 until his retirement in 2008. John worked a second job almost all of his life, the longest part time job was at Ashburnham Marine where he enjoyed his passion for small engine repair. His work ethic was admirable, and he was known to put in long hours to ensure the job was done right. Outside of work, John liked to fish, hunt and was always tinkering with something around the house. One of his more surprising hobbies was his love for roller coasters.
Besides his wife Muriel, John will be deeply missed by his children, Emil Valliere, Russell (Heidi) Valliere, Kevin (Michelle) Valliere and Diane (Mark) Landry. He also leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Russell (Meagan) Valliere Jr, Steven (Cara) Landry, Samantha (Adam) Andries, Allyson (Brad) Niall, Matthew Landry, Ella Andries, Austin Andries, Aaron Valliere, Zelda Landry and Lincoln Niall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son John Jr.
John will be remembered not only for his work and hobbies but more so for his love of family. His humor, love and dedication to his family have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his loved ones and the community he was a part of. The family is planning a Celebration of Life in April.
