Joseph G. Bastarache, 92 a dedicated and humble man of Gardner, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. 

Joseph was born in Gardner, on January 28, 1932, Joseph lived a full and reliable life in the town he called home. Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. 

His commitment to his community was evident in everything he did, from his work as a glazer for Parker Glass to his active involvement in local organizations such as the Eagles. Joseph was a man who could always be depended upon, and his steady presence will be dearly missed.

Joseph's work with Parker Glass spanned many years, and upon his retirement. His reliability was something that both his employers and his customers greatly appreciated. Despite his retirement, Joseph continued to be active, pursuing a number of hobbies. He was a passionate hunter and trout fisherman, and he found great joy in tending to his vegetable garden. These activities brought him peace and contentment, and they were a testament to his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures in life.

Joseph is survived by his brothers Yvon, Ulysses, Norman, Guy, and Paul Bastarache, his sisters Maria and Melina Bastarache, and his step-son Thomas Hursey; and nine grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloi and Josephine (Legere) Bastarache, his wife Evelyn F. (Borey) Bastarache; his brother Noel Bastarache, and his sisters Theresa Gallant, Bella Cormier, and Claudette Bastarache, his step-sons Van and Gary Hursey, and his step-daughter Nancy Guevin.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10 - 11 am at the Mack Family Funeral Homes- Gardner Chapel located at 105 Central Street, Gardner. The funeral service will follow at 11 am at the same location. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
