LEOMINSTER - Joseph Leo Frenette, 87 of 54 Hawley Ave., Leominster, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at home. He was born in Berlin, NH, on October 18, 1921, the son of the late Alfred Frenette and the late Diane (Pinette) (Frenette) Godin. Leo grew up in Berlin, NH and moved to Athol in the 1940's. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Frenette was employed at the Union Twist Drill Company in Athol for many years and went on to work for Massachusetts Electric and National Grid for many years. He was an active member of St. Cecilia's Church and a very active member of AA for over thirty years. He enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren. He leaves one daughter, Leah M. Goulet and her husband Bob of Townsend; one son, Richard J. Frenette of Leominster; three sisters, Lena Blanchard, Rita Parenteau and Irene Roussel all of Athol; a special friend, Anita Fillion of Pittsburg, NH; four grandchildren, Kirsten Goulet and her fiancee Roberto Coviello of Virginia; Christopher Goulet and his fiancee Lauren Thibeault of Leominster, Stacey Frenette of Leominster, Andrew Frenette of Leominster and their mother Irene Bernard of Leominster; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, M. Eunice (Landry) Frenette who died in 1989, by his son, Robert L. Frenette who died in 1966, by a brother, Raymond Frenette and by a sister, Evelyn Begor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11:00 am in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to The ARC of North Central SCOP Program, 564 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420 for autism and special needs adults. $(document).ready(function(){ });
