Joseph (Joe) Gabis, 79 died on Sunday, May 24, 2015 in his home in Lunenburg, Massachusetts after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Joe was born in Gardner, Massachusetts in August 1935. He attended Gardner High School and continued on to Worcester Academy and Boston College graduating in 1958 with an Economics Degree. He played football for BC and was featured on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Joe worked for Beneficial Finance as the Manager of the Gardner, Leominster and Fitchburg offices, retiring at age 50. He was also the President of the Lenders Exchange.
Joe was actively involved in the Elks, Knights of Columbus and sportsman clubs. Joe enjoyed all outdoor activities, BC football games and playing chess with his children and grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife Caroline, they were married for 57 years. Together they had four children, Joseph, Catherine, Christine and Jonathan; Five grandchildren Sandra, Catherine, Nova, Lyra and Franklin Clay; and one great grandchild, Michael Joseph.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother and father, Joseph and Mildred, his sister Theresa and brother Stanley.
A private Mass was held in his honor. There are no calling hours.
