Joseph R. "Joey" Esselman

ENFIELD - Joseph "Joey" R. Esselman, II, 45, of Enfield, CT and formerly of Athol, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 after a short illness at University of Connecticut Hospital, Enfield, CT. He was born in Tiffin, Ohio, on October 2, 1964, the son of Liesel (Rudolf) Hart and the late Leo T, Hart of Orange and the late Joseph R. Esselman. Joseph graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1982 and served in the U.S. Navy briefly in the 1980's. Mr. Esselman earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Quinnsigamond College in Worcester in 1989 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from Worcester State College in 1994. At one time he worked for Beltone Hearing Aids, and was awarded for his outstanding sales in Western Massachusetts. He has resided in various places including Lunenburg, Boca Raton, Florida and had been a resident of Enfield, Connecticut since 2007. Joe was a kind soul who loved the outdoors, especially the ocean. In addition to his mother, Joey also leaves two daughters, Chantelle E. McKey of Ashville, NC, Victoria L. Esselman of Somerville; a sister, Chante Jillson and her husband Doug of Orange; two nieces, Danielle Jillson of Chicago and Carly Jillson of Orange; one nephew, Leo Jillson of Orange; and his fiance, Debbie Mylek, of Enfield, CT. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Orange. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Athol Area United Way, 545 Main Street, Athol, MA 01331-1848 or the Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Fund, The MGH Fund 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600 Boston, MA 02114. $(document).ready(function(){ });
