ATHOL - Joseph M. Wojtkowski Jr. 74 of 2069 Old Keene Road, Athol, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the Bay State Medical, Springfield after and accidental fall.
He was born in Montague, on October 27, 1940, the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Pogoda) Wojtkowski.
Joe graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1958 and Bently College of Accounting in 1963. He owned and operated Cornerstone Insurance Agency and Bellwether Financial Services where he did tax work upon his death. He spent winters in Bradenton, FL where he served on the Board of Directors for Tara Veranda Assoc. He was Past President of the Keene NH Jaycees, member and Treasurer of the Ellinwood Country Club, member of the TARA Golf & Country Club in Florida, Former member of the Petersham Curling Club, Board of Directors and Board of Investments for Athol Savings Bank and a member of the Athol Contributory Retirement System. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol and St. Patrick's Church in Sarasoto, FL.
He spent winters in Bradenton FL, enjoying golf with numerous friends from all over the USA and Canada. Joe was an avid golfer for 45 years. He especially enjoyed giving advice to his grandkids whom he cherished. He loved sitting on his porch with grandson Chris and "shooting the breeze". He so much enjoyed playing with Owen and Aislin. He was always ready to help his kids and grandkids with any chore or project.
He leaves his wife of 54 years: Linda (Lattinville) Wojtkowski of Athol: his mother: Alice Wojtkowski of Erving; three daughters: Michele Curtis and her partner Phil King of Athol, Gail Cook and her husband Vern of Athol, Tina Wojtkowski and her partner Melissa Scherer of Barre; five grandchildren: Christopher Stoddard and his wife Cassandra of Athol, Nicole Burdett and her husband Joshua of Gardner, Jaime Sanchez and her husband Cecilio of Sarasota, FL, Jed Curtis of Brighton, Kadi Wojtkowski of Barre; two step-grandchildren: Cameron and Riley Scherer of Barre; two great grandchildren: Owen Stoddard and Aislin Burdett; one sister-in-law: Rae Kowacki of Erving; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA.
