Josephine Edna Baltakis

GARDNER - Josephine E. Baltakis (Unkuski), 91 of Gardner, MA passed away on May 14th, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in Providence, RI on October 6, 1918 to Eva and Joseph Unkuski. She had one younger brother, Charles Unkuski (pre-deceased), two older brothers, Stenny (pre-deceased) and Walter Unkuski, 96 of Providence, RI, as well as an older sister, Edna Barsamian (pre-deceased). She met her sweetheart/soldier, Joseph Baltakis at Central Falls, RI. They married in 1941 and came to live in MA in 1945. For 67 years she has been the light of his life. She loved gardening, knitting, bird watching and caring for her family. For 20 years she worked as a supervisor in the laundry at the Quality Inn (now Westminster Village Inn) in Westminster, MA. The Lord blessed Josephine and Joseph with a daughter, Josephine Lystila and later, grandchildren, Patty Maciorowski and Robert Pellitier to raise; which they did ever so lovingly. To her great grandchildren, Jake 14, Luke 12, and Kate 9 Maciorowski she leaves a legacy of love and fond memories of playing cards, bingo and checkers and birthday parties. Her family was always her greatest treasure and she theirs. She will be sorely missed and happily remembered. All who ever crossed her path were left a little brighter and lighter of spirit for it. We, the family, praise the Lord for His grace in her life and for sharing her with us. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, May 18 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA. $(document).ready(function(){ });
