Josephine M. Lefsyk

ATHOL - Josephine M. "Josie" Lefsyk, 96, of 15 Beach St., Athol, died Friday, August 15, 2008 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home of Baldwinville. She was born in Athol on November 24, 1911, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Gooleski) Lefsyk. Ms. Lefsyk grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and attended Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol. She worked as a Secretary for Timkin Oil Boiler Service in Athol and was transferred to Boston. She went on to work for the Small Business Administration in Boston. Upon her retirement in 1978, Ms. Lefsyk returned to Athol. She leaves two nephews, William Lefsyk of Athol, Thomas Lefsyk of Schenectady, NY; two nieces, Mary Kate Casella and Elizabeth Hume, both of Athol. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Lefsyk, and by her brothers, Edward Lefsyk, Walter Lefsyk, and Frank Lefsyk. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Daniel Shays Highway, Athol. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331, or to St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.
