Joyce R. Lawson

GREENFIELD - Joyce R. Lawson, 55, of 60 Forbes Court, Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in the Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, MA, after a brief illness. She was born in Athol, on August 4, 1952, the daughter of Herman L. and Eleanor M. (Hebert) Lawson. She grew up in Richmond, NH and in Athol. Joyce received her Associates Degree from Greenfield Community College in 1987. She was former President of the Pioneer Club, a member of the MARC Advisory Board, and an advocate for handicapped children in Franklin County. Joyce brought a special light and joy for life to all who knew her. She leaves her loving mother, Eleanor M. (Hebert) Lawson of Athol; two sisters, Janet Doreen Lawson of Athol, Nancy Joan Pollard of New Braintree, MA; one brother, Thomas Henry Lawson of Westford; her longtime companion of twenty years, Charles W. Franklin of Greenfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Herman L. Lawson, who died in 2005. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. in the Petersham Orthodox Congregational Church, Route 32, Petersham. Burial in East Street Cemetery, Petersham will be private.
