PHILLIPSTON - Joyce F. Perkins, 73 of 55 Barre Road, Phillipston, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Phillipston, on December 4, 1938, the daughter of the late George and the late Dorothy (Mann) Perkins.
Joyce was a life-long resident of Phillipston. She graduated from Templeton High School in 1956.
She was employed at the former Thom McAn Shoe Manufacturer in Athol for many years and went on to work at New England Woodenware in Gardner until her retirement in 2000.
Joyce played softball and basketball for the Orange Devils for many years.
She leaves one sister, Shirley Perkins of North Carolina; a niece, Melissa Moulton and her husband Richard of Phillipston; nephew, Richard Perkins, Jr. and his wife Robin of Phillipston; niece, Wanda Godfrey of North Carolina; nephew, Richard Godfrey, Jr. and his wife Judy of Baldwinville; niece, Debbie Godfrey of Orange; a sister in-law, Nadyne Perkins of Winchendon; her best friend of 57 years, Betty Soucie of Athol; and 12 great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Perkins, Sr. who died in 1994.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in the Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.
A calling hour will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Phillipston Fire Department 90 State Road, Phillipston, MA 01331.
