ORANGE - Juerg P. "Yogi" Maienfisch, 50, of 85 Fryeville Rd., Orange, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the Health Alliance Leominster Campus, Leominster.
He was born in Switzerland on July 27, 1958, the son of Arnold and Ingeborg Maienfisch.
Mr. Maienfisch grew up in Switzerland. He was educated in Switzerland, and attended trade school to become an Engineer. He worked for Asitrade in Switzerland for many years. Upon moving to the United States, Mr. Maienfisch began working at the former Rand and Whitney Company, then the Bobst Company for several years. He then owned and operated his own business as a Consultant in corrugating and laminating equipment for six years. Mr. Maienfisch has lived in Orange for 21 years. He was a member of the Franco-American Club, the Lithuanian Naturalization Club, and a former member of the Athol-Orange Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed being with his friends and family, surfing the Internet, watching television, attending the Lithuanian Naturalization Club, and telling jokes.
He leaves two sons, Ives Maienfisch and Jan Maienfisch, both of Orange; his father, Arnold Maienfisch and his partner Lis of Solothurn, Switzerland; his brother, Walter Maienfisch and his family of Switzerland; and his sister, Esther Fluri and her husband of Adelaide, Australia; three godchildren, Felicita Hortense Leopaldi of Norfolk, VA; Florian Viktor Leopaldi and Sara Ann Leopaldi, both of Athol; and his close friend, Anita Leopaldi of Athol.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Lanz, who died in 2004.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
