GAINESVILLE, FL - Julia M. (Masiello) DeSantis, 98 of 551 N.W. 55th St., Gainesville, FL, died Thursday, November 3, 2005, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, FL.
She was born in Cassano Delle Murge, Italy, on November 23, 1906, the daughter of the late John and the late Angelina (Campanelli) Masiello.
She raised her family in Athol prior to moving to Newport Richey, FL in 1968. She has resided in Gainesville since 1991.
She was a communicant of Holy Faith Catholic Church in Gainesville, FL and a parishoner of Queen of Peace Church in New Port Richey, FL and was a former parishoner of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
She leaves five daughters, Antoinette "Toni" Boccardy of Gainesville, FL, Angelina "Angie" Kane of Middletown, CT, Anna Bryson of Sebring, FL, Joann Newton of Athol, Carmella Nacca of Woodbridge, CT; one son, Dominick "Nick" DeSantis of Wilmington, NC; 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Vincent DeSantis, by a daughter, Mary Koroblis, by her granddaughter, Katrina Koroblis, by three sisters and by one brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, MA.
