OTTER RIVER-Juliette Mary Celine (Belliveau) Columbus, 96, died peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner. Born in Gardner on May 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Auguste and Marie (Doiron) Belliveau. She was one of 14 children. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1942. She was married to James Albert “Buzz” Columbus in Gardner on October 12, 1946 and they soon moved to Otter River where she lived until moving to Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in 2018. She was a parishioner of St. Martin's Church of Otter River where she performed many hours of volunteering. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 373 in Baldwinville, MA. She enjoyed candlepin bowling, bingo, card games and crossword puzzles. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. Juliette is survived by her husband Buzz; a son Robert and his wife Linda of Otter River; a daughter Suzanne Van Pelt and her husband Bruce of Hawthorn Woods, IL; a son Ronald of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a son James and his wife Claire of Gardner; a son Thomas and his wife Karen of Jupiter, FL; a daughter Christine of Gardner; six grandchildren, Robert and Amy Columbus, Christopher Van Pelt, Tracie (Columbus) Smith, Ryan and Alan Columbus; seven great grandchildren, Julie Van Pelt, Connor and Morgan Smith, Keira, Maegan, Isabella and Carter Columbus. She is also survived by a sister, Pauline (Belliveau) Croff of Barre, MA; a brother Robert "Babbits" Belliveau of Gardner; a brother Leo Belliveau of Arizona; 16 nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by six sisters, Louise, Florine, Sylvia, Clara, Eva and Helen; four brothers, Emery, Joseph, Arthur and Roger. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. St. Martin’s Church, 247 State Road, Otter River. Burial to follow at Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 2-4 p.m., Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner.
