Karen M. Smith, 70, of Orange, MA passed away on Monday, July 24th after a courageous battle with cancer.
Karen is predeceased by her parents Norma E (Nylander ) Smith, and Harry T. Smith of Athol.
Karen is survived by her loving and devoted husband Clayton Qualters of Orange; her daughter Angela Deveneau, and granddaughter Chelsea Deveneau; three sisters, Jeanne Smith and her partner Richard Stoker of Key West, FL, Dianne Russell and husband Jeffrey of Norfolk, VA, Debbie Manning and husband Michael of Northboro, one brother Gregory T. Smith of Athol; a niece Colleen Paul and her husband Jon of Billerica, nephews Patrick Manning and fiancé Jaqueline Finnerty of Dover, NH, and Kevin Manning of Baltimore, MD.
Karen loved her beagles and participated in numerous dog trials. She was very involved in the Beagle Club in Orange, serving as VP, and as the secretary of field trials. Karen was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She enjoyed cooking, especially making homemade bread, and always looked forward to summer clambakes. She enjoyed long country rides with her husband Clay.
At Karen's request there will be no memorial services and the burial will be private.
