Katherine A (Rachupka) Chouinard

Gardner- Katherine A. (Rachupka) Chouinard, 66, of Gardner, passed away following a brief illness on Friday September 20, 2013 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner. Katherine was born in Norfolk, Va on April 18, 1947, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mae (Pencille) Rachupka. Katherine grew up in Gardner and attended Gardner schools graduating from Gardner High School in 1965. She later went on to earn her certification as a CNA through the former LaChance Nursing Home. She worked as a CNA at the former LaChance Nursing Home now called Legends Healthcare for many years, retiring in January of 2013. Katherine was a member of ST. Joseph’s Church in Gardner and enjoyed cooking, shopping, driving her “yellow” car, and her Beanie Baby Collection. She will always be remembered for the love that she gave while taking care of the patient’s at the nursing home. She enjoyed spending time with family and with her pet Cockatiel bird “Petey”. Katherine leaves behind one son; Christopher Chouinard of Gardner, two daughters; Cindy Guay and her husband Todd of Nashua, NH, and Deborah Batutis and her husband Peter of Gardner, three grandchildren; Keith, Jason, and Evan, her special friend Virginia from Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. Katherine was predeacesed by her parents, and her husband of 44 years; Donald Chouinard who passed away in 2009. Calling hours will be held from the Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner on Tuesday, September 24, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Burial will be held on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 10:00am in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West St, Gardner. All those attending the burial are asked to meet at the cemetery.
