Kathy J. (LePoer) Ballou

PETERSHAM - Kathy J. (LePoer) Ballou, 66, of Petersham died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital of Needham, MA. Mrs. Ballou was born June 24, 1948 in Holden to Bernard and Annie (Mitchell) LePoer. She grew up in Petersham and graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School. She graduated from Smith College in Northampton with a degree in architecture and urbanism. Kathy worked at various local banks for many years, she worked in public relations at Athol Hospital for several years and was a pricing supervisor at the L.S. Starrett Company most recently. In addition to her full time employment, Kathy worked part time at the Petersham Package Store and for Fabio and Sara Deponte and the White Picket Studio in Petersham. Kathy was very close with her daughter Emily and went to incredible lengths to raise a strong confident woman. She then went on to help raise her grandchildren. She attended Jesse's football games in wind, rain and snow, cooked for weekly team meals and helped Ty with homework. She loved spending time with her family in Cape Cod, visiting with her parents and brothers weekly and with her numerous friends for lunch and dinner. She loved music and especially seeing her brother and his wife Julie perform. She enjoyed going to museums in Boston, theater and classic cars and Harleys. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She is survived by one daughter: Emily M. Mallette and her boyfriend Mark Doyon of Hooksett, NH; her father Bernard and mother Annie (Mitchell) LePoer; two brothers, Scott LePoer and his wife Linda of Princeton, MA, Shawn LePoer and his wife Julie of Athol; two grandchildren, Jesse Mallette and his fiance Brittany O'Sullivan; Tyler Mallette; niece, Sarah LePoer and her daughter Peri Miarecki; niece, Annie LePoer; and her nephew, Gavin LePoer. Calling hours will be Saturday, June 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Kathy’s memory to the Petersham Memorial Library, 23 Common St., Petersham, Ma 01366
