BALDWINVILLE – Kenneth F. Bockus, 88, of Baldwinville died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner. He was born on October 19, 1925 in Gardner the son of Rubert C. and Virginia (Mailloux) Bockus.  He was a graduate of Templeton High School with the Class of 1948, and received a B.S. from Fitchburg State College and a Master’s Degree in Education from Fitchburg State College.  He also did some advance studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Boston University. Mr. Bockus was the Principal at Narragansett Regional High School retiring in 1984.  The lower athletic field was named in his honor and he was inducted into the Narragansett Hall of Fame for his support and dedication to the athletic programs.  He was a member of the Massachusetts Principals Association and also served as the District Chairman of the State High School Athletics Association. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church and was an Eucharistic Minister of the church.  He was a member of the former Templeton Grange for many years, a 7th degree member of the West Pomona Grange, a member of the Otter River Knights of Columbus Council #2536 and a member of the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Association.     Mr. Bockus was a longtime instructor for Paul’s Driving School in Gardner.  He was very active in the Templeton Little League.  Kenneth enjoyed traveling the country in his RV with his wife, Theresa, playing cards, family gatherings, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves three sons, Keith P. Bockus  and his wife Deborah of Hubbardston, Thomas P. Bockus and his wife Sue of Athol, Mark S. Bockus and his wife Nancy of Wilmington, MA; two daughters Virginia M. Farr and her husband William of Rindge, NH, Ellen J. Ouellette and her husband Kevin of Concord, NH; eleven grandchildren, Chris Bockus, Jen LiVigni and her husband Ari, Andrew Bockus, Scott Bockus, Nicole Bockus, Brenton Bockus, Amanda Farr, Katie Farr, Elizabeth Farr, Matthew Ouellette and Michelle Ouellette; five great grandchildren, Kyle and Evan Bockus, Aiden, Jace and Ava LiVigni and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Theresa (Caissie) Bockus who died in 2012, by his brother Richard C. Bockus who died in 2013, and by his granddaughter in-law Sherron Bockus who died in 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn  Cemetery, Baldwinville. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St., Gardner, MA 01440. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Baldwinville Nursing Home – Activity Fund, PO Box 24 Baldwinville, MA 01436 or to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
