ATHOL - Kenneth M. Fish, Sr., 70 of 1370 South Main Street, Athol,
died Monday, July 4, 2011 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center -
University Campus, Worcester, MA.
He was born in Boston, on October 21, 1940, the son of the late
Kenneth O. and the late Winifred (Anthony) Fish.
He was educated in Marlboro. Mr. Fish was a veteran of the Vietnam
War serving in the United States Army.
He was employed as the Head of Maintenance at Athol High School forthe past 17 years. He was also employed by several local contractors.
Ken was very active in the Athol Little League providing top quality
field maintenance for over twenty years and also serving as Manager of
the Elks team for the same time. He was a lifetime member of the
Miller's River Beagle Club, a former member of the Athol Boosters
Association; a member of the Quabbin Anglers, the Sideline Squires,
the Athol Bowman's Club, the Rat Pack Paddlers and a former member of
the Athol Gun Club.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved all of the New England
Sports Teams; enjoyed running his beagle dogs, traveling and watching
his grandchildren play sports.
He also enjoyed cooking at local barbeques for kids fishing derby’s
and area gun club events. He took great pride in maintaining the
local fields at the High School and previously at the Little League
Field.
He leaves one son: Kenneth "Scoop" M. Fish, Jr. and his wife Angela of
Athol and their children Colin Fish and Zachary Fish; his companion of
30 years, Marilyn “Tootie” Coffin of Athol and her children Pamela
Coffin of Athol, Randy Coffin of Athol, Cindy Coffin of Nebraska, Kelly
Hargett of Athol; former wife Sharon (Patrick) Fish and her children Kim Jarvenpaa
of New Salem, Kevin Hurtle of Yorba Linda, CA and Kurtis Hurtle of Louisville, KY;
one sister: Melissa Boyce of Los Angeles, CA and one brother: Donald Bouthillier of
Nevada; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, David Bouthillier, and by his
sister, Beverly Josilyn.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10:30 am in
the Pine Grove Cemetery, 28 Waterville St., North Grafton, MA 01536.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 8, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m. at
the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to
Athol/Royalston Athletic Association, c/o David King 2343 Main Street, Athol, MA 01331.
