Laura E. (Miganowicz) Sawicki

Templeton- Laura E. (Miganowicz) Sawicki, 102, of Templeton, MA passed away peacefully in the Baldwinville Nursing Home on Friday August 30, 2013. Born in Farley, MA, on February 2nd, 1911, she was one of eight children of the late Stephen and Prunella Miganowicz. She lived for over 76 years in the same house on the Otter River with her late husband, Alexander. Laura grew up across the street from that house and was educated in Templeton schools. As a teen she was made lead cook at the Baldwinville Hotel. She worked for 34 years at Heywood-Wakefield and during WW II served there as a war assembler. Laura leaves behind one son, Stephan Sawicki and his wife Margery of Lexington, VA; 2 brothers-in-law Walter (wife Anne) and Joseph Sawicki; three grandchildren, Stephen Jr. of Phillipston, Stephanie of Ocala FL, and Dina Vernon of Hamden, CT; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant St. Gardner, MA on Friday September 6 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday September 7 at 10:00 am in St. Martins Church 248 State Rd. Otter River, MA. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Gardner.
