Laureen J. (Hickey) Wilder

Laureen J. Wilder Athol – Laureen J. (Hickey) Wilder, 65, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her home.  Laurie was born in Athol, July 19, 1947, the daughter of Walter W. and Marion (Groves) Hickey.  She grew up and has lived in Athol most of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1965.        She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Athol Memorial Hospital for many years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Athol Congregational Church.  The loves of her life were her daughter Sherrie and grandchildren Evan and Kaitlyn.  She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them.      Laurie leaves her daughter, Sherrie L. Sexton and her husband Robert of Athol; two grandchildren, Evan and Kaitlyn Jones; her father, Walter “Bill” Hickey; two brothers, Clift Hickey of Athol and Peter Hickey of Exeter, NH and a sister, Lynn Bemis of Bolton.  She also leaves an aunt, Barbara Phelps and many nieces and nephews.      A memorial service will be held Friday, August 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with the Rev. Dr. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor pastor of the Athol Congregational Church officiating.  A calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service.  A private burial will be at Highland Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Laurie’s memory to the Athol Congregational Church, “Book of Memory”, 1225 Chestnut Avenue, Athol, MA 01331.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com. $(document).ready(function(){ });
