ORANGE - Laurencia Anna (Grill) Rousell, 93 of Orange, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 in the Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH.
She was born in Orange, on August 3, 1919, the daughter of the late Lorentzo and the late Anna (Nystrom) Grill.
Laurencia grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1937. She graduated from Fitchburg State College in 1941 with a B.S. in Education.
She taught school in Orange from 1941-1944 and again in 1950 – 1952. She was Principal of Phillipston Memorial School in 1956 and went on to teach in Riverbend and Ellen Bigelow Schools in Athol from 1957-1981. After her retirement she worked for several years in the office of Fiske Funeral Home.
She was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps stationed at headquarters in Tampa Florida. She was discharged at the end of World War II in November of 1945. She was recalled for special duty in 1946-1947 to Army of Occupation in American zone of Austria to serve as Chief Clerk of top secret information.
She was a member of the Athol Bird & Nature Club for over 25 years; a member of the Orange VFW. She attended the Mission Covenant Church and was a Deaconess for many years.
She leaves a son Thomas Rousell and his wife Ann of Granby, MA; a daughter, Ramona Rousell of Hinsdale, NH; a grandson Matthew Rousell of Chattanooga, TN and a great grandson Dillon Rousell of Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral services will be held at a time and date to be announced. There are no calling hours scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Athol Bird & Nature Club, c/o Robert Coyle 1978 Chestnut Hill Ave., Athol, MA 01331.
