Laurene E Halfrey

HUBBARDSTON - Laurene E. (Locke) Halfrey, 74 of Hubbardston, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the home of her niece Cheryl Slack and her husband Ray of Gardner. She was born in Ware, MA, on March 1, 1947, the daughter of the late Frederick H. and the late Elizabeth D. (Fielding) Locke. She was brought up in North Rutland and attended Rutland public schools and Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, MA. She received her GED from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1976. Laurene worked at the former Rutland Heights Hospital and retired after 20 years of service. She was an animal lover and had several through the years. She leaves one sister, Linda Rocheleau and her husband Leon of Gardner, three step-children, Ann Lloyd of Virginia, Edward Halfrey, Debra Halfrey both of Worcester; several nieces and nephews, including her godson Steven Clark and her special niece, Cheryl Slack. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Robert, John, Bradford, Kenneth and George Locke and by one step-son, James Halfrey.
