Lawrence E. Cobb

December 17, 1947 — November 14, 2010

ROYALSTON - Lawrence E. Cobb, Jr., 62, of 30 Neale Road was called home to the Lord on Sunday, November 14, 2010 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. He was born in Talladega, Alabama on December 17, 1947, the son of the late Lawrence E. Cobb, Sr. and the late Joyce (Scott) Cobb. Raised in Talladega, Alabama, he graduated from Talladega High School and went on to study history and psychology at the college level. After having begun a long preaching career at a young age, he earned his degree in theology at Emory College in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1972 he became a deacon of the Methodist Church, as he continued to preach the good news of God's love. As pastor of the Phillipston Congregational Church for over ten years, and up until his death, he became known for his ability to speak to the spiritual needs of those who sought his council in the community. He and his wife Suzanne bred, raised, trained and taught the horse world about the Tennessee walking horses he loved. This lifelong passion for horses blossomed into a career in Equine Dentistry, upon his 2000 completion of coursework at Worldwide Equine School of Dentistry in Idaho. He will be missed by thousands of horses and their owners for his ability to quiet and to provide unequalled service to the animals he cared for, industry-wide throughout New England, including many rescued animals in need of special care. He was a Mason with many other interests, including woodworking, automobile restoration, fishing, motorcycles and rifles. He leaves his wife of thirty years, Suzanne (Belluardo) Cobb; two sons, Lawrence E. Cobb III and his wife Katie and their son of Alabama; Joseph Aaron Cobb and his wife Leslie and their children, Kennedy, Camden and Kailin of Alabama; a daughter, Mary "Molly" Elizabeth (Cobb) Norris and her husband; his sister, Angelia, and brother, Scott Cobb, also of Alabama. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church on the common in Royalston with a light lunch to follow at the Royalston Town Hall. Reverend Harold "Skip" Lloyd of Pepperell and Wayne Newton, organist, will assist friends and neighbors with whom he worked, talked and worshipped throughout his life in Massachusetts as we remember him and praise the Lord for the gift of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Live and Let Live Farm, Inc., an equine rescue organization in Chichester, New Hampshire. They may be reached online at info@liveandletlivefarm.org and www.liveandletlivefarm.org. For more information or to sign our online guest book please visit www.fiskefuneralhome.com.
