ATHOL - Lawrence K. McRae, 96 of 594 Crescent St., Athol, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. He was born in Athol, on August 22, 1911, the son of the late Thomas Henry and the late Elizabeth (Clucus) McRae. He was raised in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. Mr. McRae worked at the Union Twist Drill Company for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector. He was Treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a member of the Athol Knights of Columbus where he served as Past Grand Knight. He was a member of the Athol-Orange Lodge of Elks #1837 and was a precinct representative for the Town of Athol for many years. He was the former vice-president of the Athol Golden Age Club. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan who enjoyed all sports and traveled extensively with his wife Loretta. He leaves his wife of sixty-seven years, Loretta B. (Lachance) McRae; one daughter, Cathleen McRae of Athol. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Elizabeth Moore and Christine Brunell, and by one brother, Russell McRae. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, September 14, 2007, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St., Athol. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church - Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or to the Bosler Humane Society, PO Box 12, Baldwinville, MA 01436 or to a charity of one´s choice.
