ATHOL - Lena M. (Frenette) Blanchard, 87, of Athol, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
She was born in Berlin, New Hampshire, on March 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Alfred and the late Diane (Pinette) Frenette
Lena graduated from Berlin High School and moved to Athol several years ago. She worked for Digital Corporation in Westminster for thirteen years until her retirement in 1987. Lena played golf at the Ellinwood Country Club in Athol and the Petersham Country Club. She enjoyed curling and dancing. Lena was a creative woman who enjoyed knitting, ceramics and doing crafts. She was a wonderful homemaker and a devoted and caring mother and wife.
She leaves her son, Alfred Blanchard and his wife Theresa of Athol; a sister, Irene Roussel; six grandchildren, Troy Blanchard of New Hampshire, Tammy (Blanchard) Rosa of Chelmsford, Todd Blanchard of Pueblo, Colorado, Sharon Maroni of Athol, Anthony Parker and Richard Parker, both of Vermont; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Lena was predeceased by her husband of sixty-three years, Francis J. Blanchard, on May 17, 2004; also by two brothers, Joseph Leo Frenette on May 10, 2009 and Raymond Frenette; and by two sisters, Evelyn A. Begor, on November 21, 2007, and Rita A. Parenteau, on November 13, 2009.
Graveside services in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol, will be private.
