Retired Leominster Firefighter and WW II Navy Veteran
Leominster-Leo J. LeBlanc 98, died Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Leominster Hospital after an illness.
Leo was a life-long resident of Leominster. He was born on July 9, 1922 a son of the late Edmond and Marie (Richard) LeBlanc. He joined the US Navy at a young age and served as an Aviation Machinist Mate working on naval airplanes. Returning to civilian life he joined the Leominster Fire Department and proudly served for thirty-three years, retiring as a Lieutenant. At the same time, he worked alongside Bill Thomas building many homes in the Maple Ave and West St. areas. He married Claire Tata and raised two children while he built his own home on French Hill.
Leo was a very private person, but always was willing to help others with his “Jack of All Trades” abilities. Whether it was carpentry, plumbing, auto repair or fixing the lawn mower, he would lend anyone a hand and expect nothing in return.
He leaves his son, Brian LeBlanc and his wife Holly Cable; a son-in-law Jay Webster; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife Claire and their daughter, Rosemary Webster.
Those who knew him will truly miss this kind and gentle man.
