ASHBURNHAM- Leo J. Leger, 93, of Ashburnham, died Friday, May 2, in Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born March 2, 1921, in Milford, MA son of the late Adolf and Melina (Breau) Leger. Mr. Leger was a machinist, working at Heywood Wakefield for 27 years and then for Gem Industries for 12 years before his retirement. He was a member of Saint Anne’s Church in South Ashburnham, where he taught Christian Doctrine and was a member of the Parish Council for many years. Mr. Leger was also a Scoutmaster for many years.
He leaves his wife of 69 years, Yvanna (Belletete) Leger; his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Leger of Ashburnham; two grandsons, Adam L. and Andrew L. Leger of Gardner; three grandchildren, Noah A. Amethyst, and Kyler Leger; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Leger was predeceased by his son, Lawrence P. Leger, January 7, 2011. He was also predeceased by his brother, Norman Alfred, and his sister, Rita Leger.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 9, at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham. Burial will follow in the New Cemetery, Ashburnham.
There are no calling hours.
