Leona B. Gallagher

  ORANGE - Leona B. (Boudreau) Gallagher, 83 of 50 Redbrook Lane, Orange formerly of Athol, died Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the Athol Memorial Hospital. She was born in Athol, on October 30, 1928, the daughter of the late Edmund and the late Angelina (Noel) Boudreau. Leona grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1946.  She worked as a Teacher's Aide at Silver Lake School and Sanders Street School for many years.  She previously worked at the L.S. Starrett Company, the former Sandy's Bakery of Athol, and for many years as a foreman at Athol Plastics Company.  She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, she was the current Treasurer of the Athol Golden Ages, a former member of the Emblem Club, a member of the Jumptown Twirlers and she enjoyed performing and singing with the "Musical Adepts". Leona loved spending time with her loving family, she loved her dogs, she enjoyed square dancing and taking trips to Foxwoods with her special group of friends.  She leaves five children; Robert Gallagher of Millbury, MA; Jeanne Rice of Rindge, NH, James Gallagher of Orange, Alan Gallagher of Athol, Debra Gallagher of Orange; two sisters, Sandra Edson and her husband Ray of Athol, Gloria Jones and her husband Eddie of Seabrook, NH; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Gallagher who died in 1993 and by a brother, Edmund Boudreau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.  Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
