Leonard Andre Dorval passed away on April 24th 2024 at the age of 95 years old due to complications of a bacterial infection.
He was born on November 26th 1928 in Gardner, MA the son of Hector and Olive (LeBlanc) Dorval.
Leonard attended Holy Rosary School and was a graduate of Gardner High School in 1946. He worked at Goodnow-Pearson Co., First National Bank, and for 30 years at C&W fabricators before retirement.
He was always interested in antiques and was one of the original founders of The Gardner Museum. His sister Geraldine was always a good shoulder to lean on and she will miss him dearly. Leonard was one of eight children: Leonette, Raymond, Rene, Geraldine, Ralph, Richard, and Carol. He is very grateful to his nephew and godson Dr. Brent Leonard Dorval and his wife Carolyn and nephew Daniel Dorval for many things. Also helping were his nieces Sheila Dorval and Gerri (Vidimos).
He is survived by his sister Geraldine, Richard and his wife Linda, and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard, served 4 years in the Army during the Korean War achieving the grade of Sargent, and was involved in the Army Financial Service Command which funded the building of air bases in Spain and Morocco, and was stationed in Casablanca during his last year of service.
Leonard wanted to thank The Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and the Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital for their excellent care. He was a member of the American Legion, AARP, and The Gardner Museum.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11 am in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Leonard will be laid to rest at St. John’s Cemetery in Gardner, MA.
