GREENFIELD - Leslie E. “Ed†Dolhenty, Jr., 83 of Greenfield, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the Brigham And Women's Hospital in Boston.
Ed was born in Leominster, the son of Leslie and Mildred (Kershaw) Dolhenty.
He was the oldest of three children. He grew up in Gardner and lived there for half his life. He graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1947. He earned his BS at Boston College, his MA at Fitchburg State University and his Doctorate at UMASS.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.
He worked as a teacher at Gardner High School, a guidance counselor at Murdock High School, principal of Gardner Junior High School before joining the faculty of Greenfield Community College in 1966 as a psychology professor. He retired from Greenfield Community College after 35 years and began working part time at Daytona Community College in Florida until 2009.
He was an avid golfer belonging to Crumpin Fox and recently playing in the Seniors Tournament at various golf courses.
He leaves his wife, Cathy; one son, Edward L. Dohenty of Gill; four daughters, Susan Dolhenty of Gardner, Sheila Kastrinelis of Boxboro, Barbara Bosco of Greenfield, Mary Dolhenty of N. Brookfield; one sister, Mary Jane Duguay of Florida; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one niece.
He was predeceased by his brother James R. Dolhenty
