ATHOL - Lester E. Hallett, Jr., 84 of 98 Concord St., Athol, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. He was born in Erving, on November 20, 1928, the son of the late Lester E. and the late Ethel (Jangro) Hallett. He grew up in Erving and attended Orange High School.  He served in the US Navy and the National Guard.   He worked as a plant manager for the Nike & Reebok Shoe Company for many years.  He first worked for Thom McCann.  His job took him all over the world living in Thailand, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maine and New Hampshire.   He was a member of the Athol/Orange Elks Club – and was Past Exhaulted Ruler, a member of the Athol American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.  He enjoyed skiing and golfing at Petersham Country Club. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth A. (Wickham) Hallett; one daughter, Susan Mitchell and her husband Daniel of Michigan; one son, Daniel Hallett and his wifeMeredith of Maine; one sister, Bessie Bolin of Erving; three grandchildren,  Nolan Mitchell, Adrianne Hoskins, Morey Hallett and six great grandchildren,  Josh Mitchell, Lisa Mitchell, Gemma Mitchell, Nico Mitchell, Elijah Hoskins and Payton Hoskins, his brother-in-law David Wickham of South Hadley and one sister- in-law Margaret MacKnight and her husband William of Colorado. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Hallett and by two sisters, Herberta Branner and Margaret Matalica. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at 7:00pm in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.   Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery will be at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 20, 2013 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Quabbin Valley Healthcare Activities Fund 821 Daniel Shays Highway Athol, MA 01330.
