Linda J. (Winship) Swan

Athol- Linda J. (Winship) Swan, 64, of Athol, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the UMass Medical Center, Worcester following a short illness. She was born on January 12, 1950, the daughter of the late Lawrence Winship  and the late Myra (Taylor) Faro. Linda attended schools in Millers Falls and Mount Wachusett Community College where she earned her degree in Human Services and Criminal Justice. She worked as a correction officer at the Greenfield House of Corrections and then as a caretaker for the Templeton Development Center, retiring in 2007. She was a NASCAR racing fan and loved Dale Earnhardt, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Linda leaves behind her husband of thirty-five years, Harvey Swan of Athol, one son; Jason Winship and his wife Kelly of Athol, two daughters; Shannon Swan and Sarah Swan both of Athol, one step-daughter; Shelly Gagnon and her husband Dennis of Athol, one brother; Michael Winship and his wife Maria of CA, two sisters: Eva Rose of FL, and Debra Bergeron and her husband Marc of Methuen, MA, nine grandchildren: Danielle, Zachary, Michael, Elizabeth, Cody, Dakota, Andrew, Abigail, and Allison, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Bryan Reilpold in 1993. Calling hours will be held from the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 1356 Main Street, Athol on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 10:00am-11:00am. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Silverlake Cemetery, Athol immediately following the service.
