WINCHENDON - Lodia S. (Kulczyk) Hokkanen, 96 of 81 Town Farm Road, Winchendon, died Friday, September 9, 2011 in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner, on December 2, 1914, the daughter of the late William and the late Victoria (Malusnick) Kulczyk.
Lodia grew up in Gardner until 1947 and moved to Winchendon where she has resided since.
She was a member of St. Martin Church in Otter River; a member of the Garden Club in Winchendon and the PACC. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and in her younger years she enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, skiing and hunting.
She leaves one son, Alan V. Hokkanen of Winchendon; one brother, Thaddeus Kulczyk of Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Lauri Hokkanen who died in 1993, and by three brothers, Leon Kulczyk, John Kulczyk and Adolph Kulczyk.
A Mass will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:30 am in St. Martin Church, 247 State Road, Otter River. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner will be at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 12, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
