Loretta B. (Lachance) McRae

ATHOL - Loretta B. (Lachance) McRae, 95 of 594 Crescent St., Athol, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at home. She was born in Athol, on July 10, 1916, the daughter of the late William and the late Vitaline (Laporte) Lachance. Loretta grew up in Athol and was graduated from Athol High School. Mrs. McRae worked as a Telephone Operator for many years. She went on to attend the nurses aid course at Athol Memorial Hospital and worked in the pediatric unit of the hospital for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. She was past President of the St. Anne Society, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a former member of the Athol Golden Age Club (Historian) and she enjoyed working the election polls. She leaves one daughter, Cathleen McRae of Athol. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence K. McRae who died in 2007; by her three brothers, Antonio Lachance, Adrian Lachance, Lionel Lachance; and by three sisters Yvonne Williams, Eva Lachance and Irene Colo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Athol location of Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 1356 Main Street, Athol. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
