LEOMINSTER------Lorraine (Forest) Dargis, 89, of Leominster, died of Congestive Heart failure on April 4, 2011 at the Manor on the Hill Assisted Living Facility.
Lorraine was born on July 7, 1921 in Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Beatrice (Bourgeois) Forest and Arthur Forest.
She is survived by her three children, Sandra Dargis and her husband Richard St Cyr of St Croix ,Virgin Islands, Ann Wyatt and her husband John of Alamo, California and John Dargis and his wife Jean Rappaport of Bar Harbor, Maine; and by her five grandchildren,Steven Cheshire, Booth Dargis, Chloe Dargis, Alex Wyatt and Peter Wyatt and his wife Lisa. She also leaves her brother Norman Forest of Springfield.
She was predeceased by her husband Gaston in January 2010 and by her brother Clarence.
Lorraine attended St Joseph Grammar School in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1938. After high school, Lorraine attended Stevens Business College. She married her late husband Gaston in 1943 and settled with him in Leominster after World War 2 to raise their family. Lorraine and Gaston had 66 wonderful years together, 43 of those years were spent in their beloved home on Aloe Drive where they lived until January 2010.
Since the 1940s, Lorraine has been a devout parishioner of St Cecilia's Church in Leominster. She previously belonged to St Joseph Church until her marriage.
Family and friends will miss Lorraine dearly. Lorraine was famous as the keeper of the family calendar, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, graduation or any other milestone. She was very generous with others, never looking for thanks herself. She devoted countless volunteer hours to the Brain Injured Children's Center and the Massachusetts Association for the Blind. She also thoroughly enjoyed playing games, especially Cribbage, Scrabble and various card games.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 7, 2011 at 1PM in St Cecilia's Church 180 Mechanic St Leominster. Burial will be private in St Joseph Cemetery Fitchburg.
There are no calling hours.
Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the mass in St Cecilia's Parish Hall.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at the Manor on the Hill for all of their extraordinary help and support during Lorraine's time at the Manor. The family also thanks all of the Aseracare staff who offered so much comfort and care during Lorraine's final months.
