ORANGE - Lorraine F. (Newton) Soucie, 72, of 21 Stone Rd., Orange, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in the Athol Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Ware, MA, on April 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Guy and the late Juanita (Lopez) Newton.
Mrs. Soucie was raised and educated in Hardwick, MA, and later resided in Queens, New York for fourteen years. She has resided in Orange for 42 years.
She worked as a machinist for the former Athol Comb Shop for over thirteen years. She was a former member of the Franco-American Club in Athol.
She leaves two daughters, Lisa Mercier of Westfield, Lenore Mundell of Orange; one son, Edmund A. Soucie of Amityville, NY; two sisters, Dale Dorrow of Orange, Midge Brassels of Florida; three brothers, Steven Newton of Orange, Guy Newton, Jr. of NH, Louis Newton of FL; fourteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund W. Soucie; by her daughter, Laurie E. Lawton on November 22, 2006, by her sister, Linda Young, and by her long-time companion, Jon Plummer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Friday, September 4, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
